Use Services

While not a security measure on itself, we recommend networks to deploy Services. This allows users to register their nickname ("claim" it). It prevents impersonation attacks where user X poses as user Y. And, important, various security features of UnrealIRCd give Services users extra benefits, like the ability to send more messages per minute and allowing services users in during attacks if they use SASL (see Connthrottle later in this article).
