What is the UnrealIRCd Central API?
With a central api key, your IRC network can access these services:
You can get 1 account per network to access these individual services. It is up to you if you want
to use a certain service or not.
Terms and conditions
- Only one account is issued per IRC network.
- The API keys are for use with UnrealIRCd, not for anything else.
- You can use use (share) a single API key on other trusted servers on your IRC network.
- If you have different server admins and prefer to hand out separate API keys then
you can do that. You can create up to 5 API keys in 1 account.
- When you request an account, we ask certain information, such as (but not limited to) a server name and an e-mail address.
This information and other information will (or can) be used to verify your request for an account. This information
will also stay stored on our systems as long as you have an API account. This so we can contact you and trace
how the API account was initially issued.
- When you request an account we do an automatic check first, this consists of checking your IRC server and verifying
your e-mail address (and possibly more). If those checks passed, then our staff will manually
look at your request, possibly contact you and then approve or reject. The manual reviewing of requests takes
some time. Keep in mind that all our staff are volunteers.
- We may reject a request for an account/key, temporarily or permanently block or retract an existing account/key or take
other measures for any reason, including no reason at all.
Obvious examples are: in case of abuse, flooding, dubious or bad intentions (e.g. to help spam instead of preventing it).
Having an UnrealIRCd Central API Key is a privilege, not a right.
- The terms and conditions of above are about getting and using your central API account and API keys.
The central API key provides access to individual services, which each have their own page, see next.
Privacy and other terms and conditions
- Individual services have their own page, like the
Central Blocklist.
Be sure you read the individual page of each service you are going to use, since
they usually have risks and privacy implications.
